I wanted a 3mm price list from you at a recent exhibition with a view to making several purchases, and you weren't prepared to give one away and wanted 25p for an A4 sheet, saying "paper has to be paid for somehow".

Quite frankly, if you want someone to buy your products, you should be prepared to give away price lists - a necessary overhead of any business. I feel your sales would be increased if you implemented giving your price lists away free. Imagine Argos's sales for instance if you had to pay for their catalogue...

Needless to say, I like many others are deterred and will purchase elsewhere.

To Anonymous: I don't think 25p is too much to ask for a list considering it has to be written up, checked and copied then either mailed or brought to the "Wherever" show! It all costs.

I have no problems with that sort of thing at all.

I live on the other side of the planet in the southern hemisphere and imagine if I took that attitude to many things. I chose to model in one of Britain's pre-nationalisation railways as most of my family are from the UK and have spent much time there over the last 50 odd years. I pay large sums for postage and carriers and other things to do so.

I chose my hobby knowing this. If I took your position, I wouldn't model at all, what a loss for me and those I do business with in the UK!

To Bygonerelics: I disagree. To ask a prospective purchaser to pay a fee to see what you are selling is fundamentally wrong, be it 25p or £25. It's like saying "You must pay me to view my advertisement if you are thinking of buying from me". I advertise my own business each month in a magazine. The magazine is free, but I have to pay to place the ad. A necessary overhead if I am to entice clients to buy from me.

Your location, what you model and where your family are from is totally irrelevant in the case I am putting forward. I cease to understand why you mentioned it.

I agree, the price list is part of the cost of doing business.

Just e-mail Brian and you get the lists for free electronically print em yourself ...at your cost.
Nowt for owt in this world I am afraid.
Don't forget not everyone can afford a professional web site and its upkeep costs if their business is not big enough and unless you are under 20 and had a recent education most of us couldn't make one ourselves. Blogspots are chap and easy.
Only friticismbis the blog isn't updated so is very old last post is 2008.what's happened since ?
